"Jewish history on the ground - a virtual city walk through Frankfurt (Oder) and Słubice"

We are a project of the Institute for Applied History e.V. at the European University Viadrina Frankfurt (Oder). As part of the programme "Youth for diversity, tolerance and democracy - against right-wing extremism, xenophobia and anti-Semitism", we have created among other things a virtual city walk and an audio guide which deal with Jewish history in Frankfurt (Oder). On the following pages we offer you the opportunity to set off online on the trail of Jewish life, reaching from the city's early history to today. You will not only learn about the dark chapter of persecution, deportation and murder of Jewish citizens under National Socialism. On the virtual tour of Frankfurt's history, we also want to show you another Frankfurt - a Frankfurt in which Jewish institutions have been located since the founding of the city, where Jews and Christians have lived together peacefully, and where Jewish citizens have significantly influenced the city's development.

If you don't just want to click your way through a virtual Frankfurt (Oder) and S?ubice, but would prefer to see the city for yourself, you have the following possibilities: there are audio guides available at the Tourist Information, which you can use free of charge; individual walkers can also download the guide as an MP3 file for their own player.

We wish you an interesting walk!

… this way to the map!
